Apply a LUT to a photo

Load your .cube or .3dl, or pick one of eight built-in looks.

How to use it

Yes, free and with nothing uploaded: choose a photo and the Color Lookup dialog opens on it. Pick Load 3D LUT... for a .cube or .3dl file, or one of eight built-in looks, watch the canvas update, click OK and download at the original size. A LUT is a lookup table, not a slider set: every color maps to a new one, so Edit > Fade... right after is how you soften it.

  1. Click Choose a photo, or drop an image on the page. The Color Lookup dialog opens on it.
  2. In 3DLUT File, choose Load 3D LUT... and pick your .cube or .3dl file, or choose a built-in look such as Teal & Orange. Keep Preview on to see it on the canvas; turn on Dither if a sky shows bands.
  3. Click OK. If the look is too strong, click Fade... on the card and lower the opacity.
  4. Click Download JPG. To keep the look switchable, undo it and choose Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Color Lookup... instead.
ItemDetails
Reads.cube (3D, or 1D tables converted to 33³) and .3dl; .xmp, .look and Hald PNG files are not read
Built-in looksTeal & Orange, Faded Film, Warm Vintage, Cool Cinematic, Fresh Japanese Look, Cyberpunk, High-Contrast B&W, Golden Hour
SavesSame size and format; JPG at quality 92
Limit & where100 million pixels; in your browser, nothing uploaded
Tested (29 Oct 2026)Teal & Orange on the 1600 × 1067 sample: average red rose from 166 to 179 and blue fell from 152 to 141, one History step

Only .cube and .3dl open; a preset that came as .xmp, .look or a PNG grid is not a LUT this dialog reads. The table is applied in 8-bit sRGB. A LUT written to convert log camera footage already adds contrast, so on an ordinary photo it comes out too contrasty and too saturated; use Edit > Fade... to soften it. With a selection, only the selected area changes. Transparent pixels stay transparent.

How do I apply a .cube LUT to a photo?
Open the photo here, choose Load 3D LUT... in the Color Lookup dialog, pick the .cube file and click OK. Then download.
Can I make a LUT weaker?
Not inside the table, but right after applying it click Fade... on the card (or Edit > Fade...) and lower the opacity.
Can I apply one LUT to many photos?
Yes: File > Scripts > Image Processor..., tick Color Lookup, load the .cube and set an amount.
Can I save my own grade as a LUT?
Grade with adjustment layers, then File > Export > Color Lookup Tables... writes a 17, 33 or 65-point .cube.
