How to use it

Open a photo and type what you want in the AI Assistant: "warmer", "remove the background", "take out the person". It is done with the editor's own commands, so each request is one History step and color changes sit on adjustment layers you can tweak. Short requests run at once; longer descriptions go to the cloud assistant, which needs a sign-in and has a free daily allowance.

  1. Click Open a photo and ask the AI, or drop an image on the page. The AI Assistant opens next to the canvas (Window > AI Assistant, Ctrl+K / Command+K).
  2. Type the change in plain words, for example "make it brighter and crop 16:9". Short requests run instantly from built-in rules; longer descriptions go to the cloud assistant, which looks at a reduced copy of the picture and works through the steps.
  3. Check the Layers and History panels: adjustments are their own layers, and the whole request undoes in one step with Ctrl+Z (Windows) or Command+Z (macOS).
  4. Refine by hand or by asking again, "a bit less". Repeating "brighter" adjusts the same AI layer instead of adding another.
Is my photo uploaded?
Not for cutouts, removals and text erasing: Select Subject, Remove Background, the Remove tool and Remove Text run in your browser with local models (44 MB, 28 MB and 4.7 MB, each downloaded once), and short commands such as "brighter" or "crop 16:9" are matched by built-in rules with no network at all. A free-form description goes to the cloud assistant with an 896-pixel copy of the picture; that needs a sign-in and has a free allowance every day. Edit > Preferences > AI Assistant can limit it to local rules.
What can I ask it to do?
Light and color (brightness, curves, hue/saturation, black and white), cutouts and background swaps, removing people, wires, text and watermarks, blurring the background, replacing a dull sky (Edit > Sky Replacement…), smoothing skin (Filter > AI Retouch > Skin Smoothing…), cropping to a ratio, resizing and 2x or 4x upscaling, adding text or a watermark, exporting. Help > What Can AI Do? lists working phrases you can click to run.
Can I undo or adjust what the AI did?
Yes. Every request is one entry in the History panel, so Ctrl+Z / Command+Z takes the whole thing back. Tonal changes are adjustment layers named "AI ...": double-click to change the numbers, paint on the mask, or delete the layer. Layer > Group AI Adjustment Layers tidies them up, and Bake AI Adjustment Layers into Image flattens them when you are done.
What can't it do?
It doesn't generate scenes or objects: "put me on a beach" is declined with phrasings it knows. A new sky comes from five built-in skies drawn by the editor or a sky photo you add, not from a generator. Fills come from pixels already in the photo, and 2× and 4× upscaling (Super Resolution) sharpens without inventing detail.
