Free at full size, as often as you like.

How to use it

Paint over a passer-by, a power line or a stain with the Remove tool and let go: the area is filled from its surroundings by an inpainting model running on your device. Work on an empty layer to keep the original untouched. For a large area, select it and use Content-Aware Fill.

  1. Click Choose a photo, or drop an image on the page. The Remove tool (J) is selected for you.
  2. Paint over the object, a little past its edges; a magenta overlay shows what will go. For a bigger object, draw a loop around it and the inside is included.
  3. Release. The fill appears in a few seconds; the first use downloads a 28 MB model. Paint again over anything left. Press [ or ] to change the brush size (60 px to start).
  4. To keep the original pixels, click Create a new layer at the bottom of the Layers panel first. Sample All Layers is on by default, so the fill lands on the empty layer.
Why does a big patch come back blurry?
The model fills from a crop scaled to 512 px, so a wide patch loses grain; texture is added back from around it, and the Clone Stamp (S) finishes the rest. Take big things out in pieces.
Can I remove something large, like a car or a whole building?
Yes. Select it with the Lasso or Rectangular Marquee and choose Edit > Content-Aware Fill to fill the whole selection at once, or take it out in pieces with the Remove tool. Very large fills come back softer than their surroundings because the model works at 512 pixels, so expect to clone some texture back in.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The fill is computed in the browser by MI-GAN (open source, 28 MB, downloaded once): a few seconds per stroke. If the model can't load, or the layer has transparent pixels next to the stroke, Photopip falls back to patch-based Content-Aware filling.
Does this remove watermarks too?
A logo or graphic watermark: paint over it with the Remove tool, same as any object. Text watermarks are found and erased on the Remove text from an image page, which uses OCR to locate them. Remove watermarks only from images you own or are licensed to edit.
Removing a person, not a thing?
Same tool, but the Remove a person page covers shadows, overlaps and groups.
