How to use it

Choose a photo: the subject is cut out and the card fills the color you pick behind it. That part is exact. For a new scene, drop your own picture in and move it under the subject; Photopip doesn't generate backgrounds.

  1. Click Choose a photo to change its background, or drop an image on the page. The subject is cut out as a layer mask; the first run downloads a 44 MB model.
  2. In the card above the canvas, Color is selected. Click the swatch next to it and pick white, a light gray, or type the hex value of your brand color, then click Download PNG. White and Transparent are the two chips beside it.
  3. To use a picture as the background, drag it onto the canvas. It is placed as a new layer above the subject; in the Layers panel drag it below the subject layer, or choose Layer > Arrange > Send Backward. Position and scale it with the Move tool.
  4. Click Download PNG in the card, or choose File > Export > Export As for a JPG. The subject stays on its own layer with the original photo under the mask, so hair and edges can still be fixed.
How do I change my photo background to white?
Choose the photo; when the cutout is done, Color is already selected in the card. Click the swatch, pick pure white (#ffffff) and click Download PNG. The soft edge of the cutout blends into the white, and if a strand of hair went missing, paint it back on the mask. For a white square sized for a store listing, the Product photo page adds the margins and the crop.
How do I make a plain headshot background for LinkedIn or a CV?
Choose a chest-up photo. When the cutout is done, Color is selected: pick white or a light gray such as #e6e6e6. For a square profile picture, press C, choose 1:1 (Square) in the ratio menu, drag the box so your head sits in the upper half and press Enter. Then click Download PNG. Nothing is generated; it is your own photo with a plain color behind it.
Can it put me on a beach, or generate a new background with AI?
No. Photopip doesn't generate scenes. You get two things: a solid color of your choice, or a picture of your own placed underneath the cut-out subject. Drop any photo onto the canvas, send it backward in the Layers panel and scale it with the Move tool; matching the light and the angle is up to you.
Is my photo uploaded to change the background?
No. The subject is found by a 44 MB segmentation model that downloads once and then runs in your browser; the color fill and the export happen there as well. If the model can't load, the card cuts by color difference from the background and says so, and a busy background then needs a few brush strokes on the mask.
