Convert a PDF to PNG

Lossless pages, with transparency if you want it; several pages come as a zip.

, or drop a PDF here

How to use it

Choose a PDF, pick the pages and the resolution in the Import PDF dialog, and every page opens as a lossless PNG. Tick Transparent background when the page is a logo or a diagram without a white fill. The card above the canvas downloads one page or all of them as a zip.

  1. Click Choose a PDF, or drop the file on the page. The Import PDF dialog shows the first page and the page count.
  2. Pick All pages or a range and a resolution. For a vector logo or a diagram, choose 300 ppi and tick Transparent background so the blank areas stay transparent. Click OK. A page too large for 300 ppi, such as an A0 poster (9933 × 14043 pixels, over the 100-megapixel limit), is imported at a lower resolution, and the message after the import names it.
  3. In the card above the canvas PNG is already selected; click Download PNG for this page, or Download ZIP (N pages) to get every page.
PNG or JPG for a PDF page?
PNG keeps text edges and flat colors exact and can hold transparency, so use it for logos, diagrams, slides and anything you will edit again. A photo-heavy page is 3–5 times larger as PNG than as JPG; for those use PDF to JPG.
How do I get a transparent background from a PDF?
Tick Transparent background in the dialog. Areas the PDF does not paint stay transparent; a page that paints a white rectangle behind everything stays white, because that white is part of the file.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The PDF is rendered and the PNG is written in your browser. Encrypted PDFs cannot be opened; remove the password in your reader first.
