How to use it

A form only takes files under 200 KB? Open the image, pick 200 KB in the card above the canvas, and Photopip finds the highest JPG or WEBP quality that fits, shrinking the dimensions only if quality alone isn't enough. The editor stays open, so you can crop or adjust first and compress after.

  1. Click Choose an image to compress, or drop an image anywhere on the page.
  2. Pick a size limit: 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB or your own number from 10 KB to 50 MB. The new size and quality show right away.
  3. Click Download JPG (or WEBP). For PNG, a matte color or an exact quality, click More options… to open File > Export > Export As…
How do I compress a photo to under 200 KB without it looking bad?
Pick 200 KB and let the card search: quality never drops below 50, and if the file still doesn't fit, the image is scaled down instead. The result shows before you download, for example 1.5 MB → 198 KB, JPG quality 55, 2347 × 1606. The file comes out under the limit, not exactly at it, and the size line shows the new pixel size if it had to shrink. Compression runs in your browser; the image is not uploaded.
Which format does it use?
Auto keeps JPG as JPG, saves images with transparent areas or WEBP sources as WEBP, and turns opaque PNG into JPG. Choose PNG (lossless) in the format menu next to the size limit to keep the file lossless instead. With PNG the size limit does not apply.
My form wants a JPG under 200 KB. What should I set?
Keep the card on 200 KB, the default, and set Format to JPG: exam and visa forms usually list .jpg, and Auto saves transparent or WEBP images as WEBP, which is usually smaller at the same look but often refused. The file comes out under 200 KB, not exactly 200 KB. Many notices also give a pixel size and a floor, such as 20–200 KB; set the pixels in Image > Image Size first, because the card checks the 200 KB ceiling only.
