See the location, camera and date stored in a photo, then open every field in File Info.

How to use it

Open a JPG, PNG or iPhone HEIC and the card shows the four things people look for: where it was taken, with what, when, and how big it is. Click See all in File Info for the 17 camera fields and 6 GPS fields Photopip reads, plus any IPTC stored in XMP. If the photo should not travel with that information, Download without metadata writes a copy without it: for a JPG or PNG the pixels stay the same and only the color profile and orientation are kept; a HEIC becomes a new JPG.

  1. Click Choose a photo, or drop a JPG, PNG or HEIC on the page. AVIF and WebP work too.
  2. Read the card. A Location line means the photo carries the place it was taken, in decimal degrees. Whatever is missing shares one line, for example No camera or date taken.
  3. Click See all in File Info to open File > File Info and browse Camera Data, GPS Data and IPTC. Or click Download without metadata for a clean copy.

TIFF and camera RAW metadata is not read: the card says so. For a HEIC, AVIF or WebP, Download without metadata writes a new JPG from the picture, so the image is re-encoded. Older IPTC blocks (IIM) are not read, only IPTC stored in XMP. The GPS Data page in File Info reads EXIF only, so a location stored only in XMP shows on the card but leaves that page empty. Raw Data shows the XMP Photopip would write, not the file's original text. Coordinates are shown as numbers, not on a map.

The card shows no location. Does that mean the photo was never geotagged?
It means this file has none now. Most apps strip it when a picture is sent as a photo; the original on the phone may still carry it.
Can I see the metadata of a PSD?
Partly: open the PSD and choose File > File Info. Title, author, copyright, IPTC and origin fields appear. Camera Data and GPS Data stay empty for a PSD; a camera model and date saved in its XMP show under Raw Data.
Why does File Info show GPS as three numbers?
That is how EXIF stores it: degrees, minutes, seconds, with N, S, E or W in the reference field. The card converts it to decimal degrees.
Can I edit the fields?
Camera and GPS data are read-only. Title, author and copyright go into an exported JPG or PNG when Export As has Metadata set to Copyright and Contact Info; description, keywords and IPTC fields are kept only when you save a PSD.
